Pothole on main footpath in village
Reported via iOS in the Pothole / Failed Reinstatement category anonymously at 15:17, Saturday 3 October 2026
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 10187477.
After the removal of an old rotten tree stump there is a significant portion of the footpath that is missing, presumably because where the tree used to be the path was lair around it.
As a result there is a hole 4ish inches deep on the footpath.

Update: I have temporarily filled the exposed depression with MOT Type 1 sub-base to bring it approximately level with the surrounding footway and remove the immediate trip hazard. I initially placed a sheet of 9mm plywood over the area but removed it as I considered the raised/loose edge of the board could itself present a trip hazard.
This is only a temporary measure and the underlying void/sub-base remains to be inspected and properly reinstated. Please assess the condition of the footway and underlying material, particularly given that the original footway appears to have been constructed around the historic tree.
