Previous road repair breaking down

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 16:04, Mon 29 April 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 5912540.

Whilst the pot holes is probably not causing damage to cars, it is causing damage to my house. Everytime a bus/lorry/large vehicle hits this pot hole l we are experiencing worsening vibrations in the house. This is now causing cracks in our plaster. As this is a bus route and major route in and out of the village I am seeing no fewer than 40 large vehicles hitting the pothole every day. This has. Been an issue for 3 months and is worsening weekly.

  • Due to a new diversion route, big vehicles are now coming past the property causing more damage. This is of course unsettling to the occupier

  • Pothole deepening due to volume of traffic, an additional pothole has appeared alongside. Damage to property continues as the vibrations as heavy goods vehicles hit the area is getting worse. It is not simply the depth of the pothole but the unevenness. The photo does not do justice to the size of the area. This particular stretch of road is single carriageway width, and the damaged area is impossible to avoid for any vehicle with the exception of a small car.

  • Pothole continues to deteriorate, vibrations through house are continuously worsening There is now an additional new damage as a result of vehicles attempting to avoid the original pothole. This damage has appeared in 10 days and measures 4m long. See photo.

The weekend is just as busy with large vehicles passing by,and insufficient room to work safely. This, needs full road closure. Can you update when closure has been applied for and the lead time from when closure requested to time closure is authorised.
