Drains blocked on the northbound side

Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category by Graham Waddington at 17:19, Thu 23 May 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6012836.

One or more drains are blocked on the northbound side, causing the uphill water to rise out of the blocked drain and run downhill along the side of the road. When it is heavy rain, it causes a 1m+ wide stream of water running down the edge of the road. I have reported this before some months ago, either for the same drain, or one next to it. It was reported as fixed.

  • I cannot be sure that I have pinpointed the exact drain. It is difficult to identify it precisely while I am driving.

  • Driving past it yesterday evening, it looks to be the first drain on the left (heading North), after the left turn into Puxley Road. Although it is difficult to tell if there are more drains because the gutter contains a lot of debris. The road bends slightly to the left and the drain is where the road straightens. My marker, when I reported it, is perhaps a little too far North.

  • This defect has caused severe flooding over onto Pucley Rd yesterday and road became impassable. The flooding onto the northbound side of the A422 was causing traffic to move onto the wrong side of the road for their safety.

Water was back-flowing up out of the drain. Can someone confirm this has been addressed, or will be as it is an ongoing issue whenever we have rain.
