Cars turning right on No Right Turn

Reported via mobile anonymously at 19:26, Tue 4 June 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6063619.

Traffic lights have a No Right Turn sign for vehicles and bikes travelling from Pineham along Upton Valley Way into Banbury Lane. There is no right turn sign at the traffic light, but the long stretch of pavement in the centre of the road has no further road markings to deter people turning right across the traffic. There have been several accidents /shunts already in this area with vehicles /bikes turning from the opposite direction on the permanent Green light left only filter.

Can a No Right Turn Sign the added to the keep left sign at the end of the pavement to remind people they should not turn into Banbury Lane or can a no entry be added? This is a frequent occurrence because people going to the area are too lazy to go down to the roundabout and come back. There is a risk also to pedestrians crossing there if there was a major accident in drivers trying to beat oncoming traffic.
