Need cut back

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 14:02, Tuesday 2 July 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6181964.

I’m only 5ft 5 and I’m having to duck under these branches, let alone having to dodge bird poo. The poor people in the house where these are must have a garden full of bird poo as they are over hanging in their garden as well.

  • We have been approached by a member of the public, who lives locally saying they had reported this problem The first comment is that the homeowners, myself and my wife, are not responsible for the trees in question. They are the responsibility of the Council. I add to the comments of the original poster that I am 1.77 metres tall and have to duck. Additionally, in recent days, we have observed delivery lorries on Penfold Lane hitting the overhanging branches, which must constitute a health and safety risk. These trees do, however, overhang our garden. over half of ourgarden is under shade from these trees and a tree in our neighbour's Beach at the bottom of our garden. The treeson Penfold Lane overhang so mush they overhang our house and conservatory. Roosting birds drop their faeces, fruit pips onto our lawn, patio and laundry. This results in the needs to re-wash laundry and clean our lawn and patio several times a week, so much is problem. This is not environmentally or financially friendly due to the excessive need to use water and detergents. We have to restrict our Granddaughters use of our garden due to the fear of the filth she could get into and of the human communicable diseases carried by the pidgeons that are the main culprits. Some of the diseases carried are a risk to young and vulnerable people. I am diabetic and our granddaughter is 31/2 years old, so you will understand my concern. A further concern is the amount of dead or dying branches can be seen in the trees. We have had branches in excess of 20 feet fal into our garden and I regularily pick up branches in excess of 5 feet in length from the verge and footpath bordering my property. These constitute and health and safety risk, not only to us and our property but , also to pedestrians using the footpath. Parents and grandparents use this footpath daily to and from the nursery in the Great Billing playing field and pocket park. Perhaps a tree expert could come and survey the trees and produce a report. They will be welcome to access our property to get a proper view of the problem.
