Hole in road by bingo hall/pedestrian crossing

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6191523.

Weedon Road heading out of town, just past the pedestrian crossing outside the bingo hall, there is a large dip in the road, on the right of the lane, which is steadily getting deeper. Please can this be reviewed for repair. Thank you.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, the defect meets the requirement for a Priority 4 repair. We will schedule a repair to be completed within 26 weeks.

  • Glad someone has already reported this, the hole is huge - not sure how it is a priority 4. Its on a main road out of Northampton, in the main wheel trajectory. What's worse, unless you know it's there you can't really see it on approach due to the angle of the hole. If it was safer I'd take a picture. I'd hate for someone's car to be damaged.

  • Very disappointing that this was reported in July and has not been fixed. It is really quite deep and very difficult to avoid due to the pedestrian crossing and islands.

  • This dip is getting worse by the day and needs to be fixed this week not next year. It’s in the track of the wheel on a vehicle and it cannot be avoided.
