Multiple potholes in Potterspury (or should that be Potholepury)

Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category by Cllr Steve Parkin at 15:54, Tue 16 July 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6237171.

I make no apology for reporting this problem which is blighting our village and causing repeated problems with vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road. I reported this last in March 2024 and was told this didn't meet the criteria. Now the underlying concrete surface is deteriorating - what does it take to get this deteriorated important carriageway, and the gateway to our village, reinstated! The Parish Council would like an answer.

My post in March 2024, when I was once again told the damage did not meet your criteria, is below. Why are these not a potholes? Why can't the surface be fixed properly? The entrance to Potterspury along Poundfield Road from the A5 has suffered break-up every winter for the last few years. Each year it has been reported and each year we are told the holes are not deep enough to fix! It is not acceptable to have to drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid this area. PLEASE FIX IT PROPERLY ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Steve Parkin on behalf of Potterspury Parish Council

  • Not yet fixed and I wonder if it ever will despite the December promise of completion. Do we always have to drive on the wrong side of the road when using the main entrance to our village! The attitude of the Highways Department to this long-standing issue which has been raised countless times by many people and the Parish Council is lamentable.
