Byway deeply rutted by motobikes
Reported via desktop in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 14:49, Sat 20 July 2024
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6253448.
Three photos showing damage done by bikes in Dec 2023. 1 photo taken recently to show deep ruts have dried rock hard and overgrown with grass making byway difficult and dangerous to walk/cycle/ride down. This damage continues on the byway north towards Preston Capes and south across old railway line towards Plumpton Lane, Morton Pinkney. I worry about the ecological impact on insects, wildlife and plants. The council did such a good job sorting the byways out 2-3 years ago. All that work wasted. Is there anyway the bikes can be stopped? Thank you

Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention unfortunately it is hard to stop motor bikes when we need to allow access for equestrian traffic. Where you can get a horse you can get a motor bike. we will continue to monitor the situation as part of our Rights of Way inspection programme.
