Footpath surface in need of repair

Reported via desktop in the Slabs - Uneven / Damaged / Cracked category anonymously at 12:13, Wednesday 7 August 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6327257.

Footpath on east side of Johns Road Bugbrooke between junctions with Waggoners Way and Homestead Drive. Uneven with many cracks allowing the growth of vegetation (currently tallest is knee-high!).

This matter was raised in September 2021 (Ref: 2935775) as part of a longer section of footpath in need of repair. No adequate remedy was provided for this section although the sections north and south of this section were resurfaced.

In August 2023 a further request (Ref: 4915954) highlighted this omission, quoting the previous 2935775. A communication on 9/10/2023 indicated work was be carried out w/c 11/10/23. My response (18/10/2023) to a questionnaire on 17/10/2023 of ‘Not Fixed - I am unsure why this should be marked as 'completed' as several sections of path referred to in the original post are still unrepaired. 5087220 appears to address this with an intention expressed of repair shortly’ resulted in the following post on 19/10/2023.

19/10/2023 Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Completed (Work Completed) - The area has been inspected and work has been scheduled to be carried out within the next 26 weeks. You will receive further information when this job is completed.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, a pre-emptive defect has been raised. This means that the location does not currently meet West Northamptonshire Council's criteria as an urgent safety defect. However, the repair will be scheduled to be completed alongside other maintenance works in the local vicinity. We will continue to monitor the condition as part of our routine highway inspection schedule. Should you notice the defect worsening, please inform us via an update to your existing enquiry.

  • Only a short section (perhaps 25%) of the length reported (Footpath on east side of Johns Road Bugbrooke between junctions with Waggoners Way and Homestead Drive) has received attention. Remainder still requires attention (vegetation growing through, restricted width, uneven surface).
