Blocked damaged drains

Reported via iOS in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 20:22, Sunday 25 August 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6397502.

Reported several times - you have visited twice, once to unblock the drain - the 2nd time to inspect and write back to me stating it needed repairing and it would be done within 6 months - that last 12 months ago - I have chased 2 times in the last 6 months - please progress as this drain issue causes sludge to back up onto my property causing damage to it and endless issues with dirt and mud in my house.

  • Thank you for the update - appreciate it - after the recent heavy thunderstorms the road in front of my house now has a fair amount of mud / silt - we will attempt to clean and remove most of it - however it is clear that the water that flowed has made the poor drainage worse - the root cause is another drain to be installed or the camber of the block paving be adjusted to allow the water to flow to the existing drain (which is the natural obvious solution) it looks like the sand and support under the block paving has merely dropped 1/2” or so over the years removing the gentle camber to the drain

  • As you can see at 5am this morning - pools of water form between the 3 drains now due to the drain you have installed being fitted too high and also the block paving relaid is too low resulting in not channelling water and soil that collects entering the drains - every day since you dug the new drain I have had to pour water there to wash mud from this collection point
