Drain in front of Lunchfield Lodge on Lunchfield Lane cannot take all the rain and it comes bubbling up

Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 14:12, Monday 9 September 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6453277.

The drain on street in front of the house bubbles up and does not drain away. There are manholes in the property behind called Chapel House that also take away rain water and they cannot manage it and the water bubbles up and floods the rear of his property. It floods his patio by 6" The water is rain water, not sewage that passes through the drain under the lawn of Chapel House.

  • Since I moved to this house the patio and and garage flood at least a couple of times a year. The problem is the drainage cannot handle the water volume when it rains heavily and so it backs up through the drains in the street and on the lawn of the care home next door. The lawn of the care home becomes sodden and pours through the fence separating our properties and floods my patio area and my garage. This happened again on Saturday night and was the 3rd time this year. As you can see from the water level is very high (about 6”) on the garage wall flooding the patio and the garage floor causing damage to possessions inside. Other than the inconvenience of cleaning up the mess every time this happens I am concerned about the damage being done to my garage.

  • This is one of the manholes in our neighbours garden (Chappell house) that floods and pours through our fence.

  • Since I last complained of this problem we have been flooded twice more. We were up until 02.00 this morning cleaning up the damage again! The care home next door has a garden that turns into a lake when the manholes start spewing water. Their drainpipe also empties directly onto the path all of which ends up against my fence and along with the drain in front of our garage floods my patio and garage. My neighbours have the same issue and this needs sorting immediately.

  • Please can you let me know what is happening. My neighbours and I are extremely worried that we will be flooded again. The last report said the repair was located and would be repaired by the 11th October. Was this done?
