Block road drain

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6499817.

Blocked road drain. Causing very large puddle. I have tried clearing fallen leaves and poked through silt with long rod but can't get it to clear.

  • Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

  • This is a repeating issue, it was excessive during the recent heavy rain but it does flood with only moderate rain. None of the other nearby drains are showing the same symptoms.

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, the defect meets the requirement for a Priority 4 repair. We will schedule a repair to be completed within 26 weeks. Our current average response time for a Priority 4 repair is 38 days.
