Flooding in underpass

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6506287.

Underpass is flooded to about 100mm so not possible to walk through in normal footwear. Drains at far end blocked. Drain on footpath adjacent to ladybridge drive also blocked do more water running down hill.

This is a route used by young children going to school.

  • Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

  • This happens everytime we get a bit of rain … this is my route to work and I have to go over the top of the road when it’s like this as it’s impassable . This isn’t a one off it happens all the time please unblock the drains either side

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, the flooding has been assessed and requires a Priority 3 response. We will schedule drainage investigation work to be completed within 28 days. When the investigation has been completed, we will inform you of our findings and course of action. Our current average response time for a Priority 3 is 16 days.

  • We’ve not even had much rain and it’s already going this again!!!! I cannot keep on going around to get to work I’m sure this is effecting many residents in the area and should be more of a priority to fix the drains and maybe make them fit for purpose aka size appropriate!!!!

  • Investigation: Completed (Duplicate), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. We can confirm that we have been made aware of this issue and a works order has been raised on a routine safety inspection. The expected completion date for these works will be 26/12/2024

  • Flooded yet again when will this be fixed please it’s gone way over the time promised to fix the drains come on this really isn’t good enough!!!!

  • Flooded again today. Impacting lots of people who have to take long detours. There is no SAFE we around without a long walk.
