Didn’t drain when raining a lot therefore all rainwater was entering our property and we have to build a makeshift diversion

  • Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

  • When the road was re-surfaced several years ago this decreased the size of our drop Kerb and since then heavy rainfall does not flow down the road but instead flows into our drive resulting in too much water entering the front garden. We have to create our own raised kerb when we have fast heavy rain. The drain at this point also doesn’t cope with heavy rain which makes the matter worse. Can this be corrected?
