Update to 55 Grafton Way

Reported via desktop in the Blocked - flooding road/path category anonymously at 09:20, Tuesday 24 September 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6508065.

Ongoing problem for 3 years now. Drains and manhole covers are lifting and flooding and its the drains outside 57, on both sides of the road, lift, even with a little bit of rain. Also, the manhole on the path outside 34 Grafton Way is bursting with heavy rain causing flooding, worried due to more rain forecast. There is also a manhole cover outside 32 Grafton Way, that residents were told 2 x years ago that the water isn't getting away and you do not know where the blockage is. This needs investigating thoroughly now as this is not good enough. Residents are getting the flood from the road also the downpipes on 55 and 57 are not draining the water away. There is a suction sound coming from the pies, so there is obviously a blockage there. The infrastructure is not big enough now for all the new houses and this is your job to maintain. Please do it now

  • Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

  • We have recieved an email and if I am reading this right you are going to close this in seven day if it is not a repeat incident. I must stress this has been going on for years and getting worse the drains cannot take the water there is now a pothole appeared in the road close to one of the drains.

  • A vehicle attended to pump drains. this is not the answer to this problem and has been going on for three years. it is apparent that the drains cannot take the level of water in this area. as the houses continue to get flood damage . it require a complete survey
