Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category by Guy Roberts at 14:20, Tue 24 September 2024
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6510201.
The 2 drains nearest to the Sportsfield gates are both blocked. One completely. This is also causing sizes with the draina within the grounds of the Junior School and Sportsfield , as dirt from the road drains is going into the school/Sportsfield drain system which is causing blockages and flooding. The South Close drains need clearing as a matter of urgency

Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

This is a repeat incident: It isn’t to do with the recent wet weather. The drains are blocked with dirt and debris so need cleaning. The knock on effect is that they are sending dirt into the school and Sportsfield drainage system, which have recently been rebuilt and cleared at considerable cost. The school and Sportsfield do not want to have to pay further monies to have the drains cleared again due to dirt and debris from the road drains.
