  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found) - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

  • The drains are totally blocked and so it is a repeat problem. the heavy rain and flood exposed the blocked ironworks by washing the silt off. Where the water has run down the lane over years it has now eroded a channel along the carriageway. There are 3 grids on the gradient of this part of the lane and all are blocked, as is the ditch/culvert system that runs the water into a tributary of the tove at the bottom of the lane

  • Highways have sent people out multiple times over recent years and each time they seem to do a bit of digging to make a trench to allow water from the road to reach the stream or clear one of the grates or to fill the potholes which result from the road being almost permanently flooded but no one seems to have assessed the overall problem. The multiple site visits and attempts at partial repair must have cost a huge amount over the years. Surely it's time to do a proper fix.
