Blocked gullies - flooding on road
Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 19:48, Fri 27 September 2024
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6525436.
Blocked gullies causing lots of surface water/flooding on road. Cars are passing through the middle of the road. Last night there was a car that actually was stuck in the road due to the high level of water. Gulley on one side blocked causing a higher level of water on that side.

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found) - Thank you for your enquiry. West Northants received approximately 140mm of rain over a short period of time, resulting in severe flash flooding in many areas. The heavy rainfall had the ability to overwhelm the surface water drainage system. If your report is a repeat flooding incident, please could update this enquiry with further information, so that we can investigate. If this is not a repeat incident, we will close the enquiry after 7 days and the highways team will continue to monitor the location

This is a repeat flooding incident. There have been several reports of it over the last year. As you can see the gully on the right hand side is blocked causing pooling of surface water on that side. The other side is clear as seen in the photo.

This area has been flooded continuously for weeks now. Given that today was -3C, this caused some serious ice between the flooding and the bridge. Myself and 3 other colleagues today lost control of our cars here due to the ice and had very scary incidents where we genuinely thought we could've crashed our cars. This needs some immediate attention, and has done for a while now. The potholes that then follow here as you drive up to Clifton are equally dreadful. The road requires being completely resurfaced.
