Collapsed drainage culvert,

Reported via desktop in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 14:36, Thursday 3 October 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6547868.

The knightly way from Fawsley to Preston capes crosses a drainage ditch at the marked location. This was an earth covered victorian brick culvert. The culvert though has collapsed resulting in a drop that walkers may not notice if walking this way in the dark. There is quite a drop with water flowing. Needs urgent response just in case someone falls into it by mistake as it is directly over the style as one heads towards preston capes from the fawsley side.

  • I have walked this route today and can confirm this collapse represents a significant danger to walkers. Many will be unable to use the crossing at all now and there is no alternative route available. I urge that it be stressed to the landowner that immediate action is essential.

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 15:24, Thursday 31 October 2024

  • Still no sign of any work being done. The situation is actually getting worse. I placed a homemade danger sign on the Fawsley side of the style as I was concerned but needs to be replaced as the ink has run. here are some snaps to emphasize the issue.
