  • Has this Drain Been Fixed?

Posted by Cllr Malcolm Callan at 13:26, Sun 27 October 2024

  • This drain is still blocked as of today. The surrounding drains need to be looked at as well. Can't tell if other drains are blocked due to drains being full of leaves

  • As of the 11th November 2024 WNC posted in progress. On the 29th November 2024 I received an email from WNC to Wootton Parish Council titled "Council pledges to push forward progress on flooding protection". The area highlighted regularly floods. All the drains seem to be blocked. This was first reported on 10th October 2024. This problem needs to be sorted out immediately. WNC are losing credibility issuing statements regarding floods, when situations like this are nor addressed or updated. Can we please have these drains unblocked! Thankyou.

  • On the 10th December you updated saying the job has been scheduled for 16/12/2024. I visited the location today 19/12/2024 and the drains are untouched and still severely blocked. Please can you update on 1.) Why the work was not carried out and 2.) The new date when the work will be carried out.

  • Thankyou for your update. However I do not think the residents of Wootton will be satisfied with a response stating ASAP. Its taken since the 10th October to finally get a date for when these drains will be unblocked. The date of the 16th December was unfortunately missed. The least residents could expect would be another date when you intend to carry out the work. This area was recently flooded with diversions through Preston Deanery put in place. Any future heavy rainfall will cause it to flood again. To state you will reschedule the work ASAP, is clearly unacceptable. Please can you contact the persons necessary and come back with a firm date. This way I and the electorate can monitor the progress. Thankyou

  • On the 23rd December 2024 you scheduled a date of the 8th January to unblock the drains. This date was given as the previous date you gave of 16th December was missed. I have today gone to inspect the drains and they are still blocked. It looks like you missed this date as well. This was originally reported on the 10th October. Since then the road has flooded with diversions put in place. We are now three months since the first report, with two of your scheduled dates to unblock, both missed. How on earth do you expect the electorate to take you seriously. Once again, can we please have a date, that you intend to stick to, as to when the drains will be unblocked.
