Constant flooding on bend - HS2

Reported via mobile in the Flooding category anonymously at 13:58, Sat 12 October 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council 1 day, 17 hours, 37 minutes later. ref: 6606898.

Due to the HS2 works on the Radstone Road, the bend on the left as you head towards Helmdon is constantly flooded when raining. The flooding covers a wide area on the road, causing cars to either drive on the incorrect side of the road to avoid it, or drive through it at slow speed. Once dark in the winter months, this will be harder to detect and is an accident waiting to happen!!

There is a single drain on the left hand side that is clearly blocked and can’t cope with the water coming off the HS2 work site. It’s obvious and dangerous. Why the HS2 management of the site don't do anything about it, I’ll never know. Probably don’t care, just like everything else.

This needs to be addressed ASAP as we head towards dark rainy months!

I can’t get a recent picture as it’s too dangerous and wet. The one uploaded shows the drain location and where the water spreads too.

  • This corner was pure ice in the snowy conditions. Also the water being dragged out of the puddle is causing black ice. Why is HS2 allowed to allow so much water to flood off their site! This is going to cause a major accident durnjng winter

  • Again, with the storms we are having at the moment, this morning was awful. Flooding almost the whole road on an un-lit bend. I understand there may be other priorities but this is beyond a joke and is going to cause a serious accident!
