Surface water on road after rainfall

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Ditch category anonymously at 16:22, Thu 7 November 2024

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6706576.

As previously reported on 6559622 and the report being subsequently closed with the reason 'in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, this defect does not meet the investigatory levels for a repair' I disagree, I am sure the manual will have a level for action for cleaning the grip and ditch, as does the Highways Act 1980. Please review report, thank you.

  • Straightforward solution to this problem is to clear the grips and get the landowner to clean out the ditches. There is no other drainage system at this location.

  • The land owner should have been contacted by now to clear their ditches. I understand this is a separate process to the works order and can be actioned. This whole process has taken over six months as my original report was closed down.

  • Investigation: Completed (Duplicate), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. We can confirm that there are no grips in the verge pinpointed in this report. This will be what is causing the flooding, and we have therefore raised a new job for grips to be dug in the verge.

  • I have already informed yourselves that this is what was causing the flooding, so I don't require an update informing me what is causing the flooding. I have attached an image from 2011 to confirm there is a grip at this location. My first report 6559622 in October 2024 reported that the grip needs cutting and ditch clearing. The job just needs to get done.
