Multiple potholes many larger than 12 inches and 40mm plus deep over the whole length of Church Drive, have existed for many years

This roadway with its potholes creating a very uneven road surface, is the only level vehicle access to All Saints Church and the residential properties in the locality. The condition is so bad that it is dangerous for pedestrians, particularly the disabled and elderly. Access for Funerals and Weddings is appalling. There is also no lighting at all which considerably worsens the situation. Urgent action is needed as the Festive Season approaches!

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, the defect meets the requirement for a Priority 4 repair. We will schedule a repair to be completed within 26 weeks. Our current average response time for a Priority 4 repair is 62 days.

Please can we be advised of the likely dates for when work will be carried out? We have people who keep their horses in the stables here and they may need to change deliveries, vet visits, farrier appointments, physiotherapy, muck trailer collections etc to ensure the stables can function okay. Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Ongoing - We can confirm that the team attended yesterday (20th January) and tried to undertake some repairs using our Thermal machinery. Unfortunately, due to the amount of mud and debris on the
surface, the team were unable to undertake this type of repair. We therefore made sure that some of the more prominent defects were made safe by the use of temporary repairs.
Further repairs will follow in due course.

This is a copy of my email to Kier on 11/02/2025 spelling out exactly what is desperately needed for the repairs to this roadway. Please assist in supporting this urgent matter to reach completion.
Hi Elise – further to our exchange of emails on 21st January 2025, I’d be grateful if you would provide me with an update on the re-scheduling of the work required to repair the road surface of Church Drive.
You stated that you would keep the area safe by the use of temporary repairs but that promise is far from being fulfilled! The attached photos taken last Sunday give an indication of only a few of the very many deep potholes that exist on the site. As has been stated before, these are a danger to pedestrians and to vehicle suspensions particularly hearses and I would have hoped that during the recent spell of dry weather you would have given this work some priority.
You are contracted to the West Northamptonshire Council and therefore answerable to them but I suspect that they are content to continue stating in their reports that `work is in progress’. This is far from satisfactory as this road is used regularly by the local residents and the members of the Church. Over the last few months there have been several funerals and some weddings and I dread to think what the many visitors on those occasion thought about the condition of the access to the Church.
I am tempted to broadcast this issue to the wider region but I must first give you the chance to address this problem and complete the work to as high a standard as possible to ensure a lasting solution, as soon as possible. Temporary repairs are no longer acceptable.
