Large area of road pools with water which is causing black ice

Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 14:25, Friday 10 January 2025

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 6962256.

This area of flooded road is where one gully is sited. It has been a problem area for many years and has been causing the road to fill with water much worse for the last 12 months.

This is adjacent to a 90 degree bend in the road which is a sharp mend and blind to traffic. When the temperatures are freezing, vehicles are carrying this water round the bend on their wheels and causing a huge patch of ice. I have encountered this ice patch and it was the most significant road skid I have encountered in the last 20 years of driving.

The affects of this standing water at a sharp bend need to be noted as a danger beyond the normal road hazards a driver would encounter.
