Large branch sticking into edge of highway

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 7131276.

Large branch protruding into the highway from the verge and it would seriously damage the side of your car if you don't pull across the highway to avoid it. This branch will either cause damage to a car or cause an accident by somebody swerving to avoid it. Under your Northants Highways Inspection manual you state: Private Ownership Third parties are also required to maintain their property “to the reasonable satisfaction” of NCC. This may include, but is not restricted to: • Trees ( including these totally on private land but within falling distance of the highway) • Hedges • Objects in verges Any defect representing a significant immediate or imminent hazard immediately adjacent to the public highway shall be responded to as an emergency within a 2 hour response time and then recharged through Northamptonshire Highways Regulations team. Where a Priority-2 or non-urgent defect is identified immediately adjacent to the public highway a letter shall be sent to the occupier of the property requesting that the defect is rectified in a given timeframeIf it is seen that the defect is not rectified in the timeframe Northamptonshire Highways Regulations Team shall be informed to follow up on the letter. Please can you confirm what actions as detailed above you will be taking regarding this issue.

  • Investigation: Completed (No Action Necessary) - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location, and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, the vegetation at this location is not currently meet the intervention criteria. We will continue to monitor the vegetation as part of our routine highway inspection schedule. Should you notice this issue worsening, please inform us by raising a new Fixmystreet enquiry.
