The problem is still not fixed. The water level in the drain has reduced slightly as the result of several dry days. However as soon as we have further rain (forecast for the coming weekend) the whole of Station Road will once again be inundated.

Thank you for your update. The reason why no flooding has been identified is because we have had no rain for a significant number of days. Had your Highways Inspector looked down the drain they would have seen that water is still lying up to about six inches from the road surface. It remains clogged with silt and vegetation, giving no opportunity for surplus rain water to disperse. It should, by now, have drained away completely. There is no getting away from the fact that the drain remains blocked, and has been for a number of years, as a direct result of Council neglect. As soon as we next get a heavy downpour the drain will fill back up to the top, overflow onto the road and cause further flooding. Inspecting during a prolonged dry spell is a futile exercise. I am more than happy to accompany your Inspector on their next visit, if I am notified of the time and date in reasonable time. Regrettably, the only consequence of inactivity will be a continuation, and worsening, of the problem.
