Two large potholes in both wheel tracks on Croughton Road cracked my alloy.

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 09:58, Sunday 16 March 2025

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 7285191.

Dear [Recipient’s Name or Sir/Madam],

I am writing to formally report a series of potholes and submit a claim for vehicle damage sustained on 09/03/2025 while driving on Croughton Road OX173BA - approximate coordinates (51.9957895, -1.2476473)

The potholes are present in both wheel tracks and have developed from a deteriorating road filler joint, which has perished over time. This has resulted in a dip in the road surface, followed by a sharp impact against the level surface, leading to a significant jolt upon driving over it. Unfortunately, this caused a crack in my alloy wheel, resulting in damage that now requires repair or replacement.

I have attached photographs of the potholes, the damage to my vehicle, and I have dash cam footage which I would like to share but I cannot on this section. Please share with me an email which I can forward the footage to. I will be claiming compensation for the damage caused to my alloy and any other damage potentially caused to the steering or suspension upon further investigation.

Please let me know how you wish to proceed. I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,

  • To whom it may concern,

Please find attached a photo of the crack in my alloy wheel caused by the pothole. I have taken the wheel to a repair shop for a temporary weld repair to ensure the vehicle remains safe to drive.

Additionally, I have dash cam footage of the incident, which I am happy to provide upon request as further evidence of the damage and the condition of the road.

This situation has been a significant inconvenience, costing me both time and money. I would appreciate an update on my claim and any next steps required.

I look forward to your response.

    Best regards, Abteen
