Sverely deteriorating state of Rowtree Road

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 19:25, Fri 21 March 2025

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 7316860.

I am writing to formally raise my concerns regarding the severely deteriorating state of Rowtree Road, particularly between London Road/A45 and the Windingbrook Lane Roundabouts. Over the winter, the condition of this stretch has significantly worsened, with multiple potholes exceeding 5 cm in depth and the road surface visibly disintegrating. The top layer is crumbling away, and the temporary patchwork repairs applied so far have proven to be completely ineffective. Frankly speaking, this method of road maintenance is embarrassing and does nothing to address the ongoing issue.

The situation is exacerbated by heavy construction traffic from Vistry’s development, which is further degrading the road. The uneven surface is now causing severe vibrations that are felt throughout the surrounding neighbourhood. This not only affects residents’ quality of life but also poses a serious risk to the structural integrity of nearby properties and gas installations inside them.

If this matter is not properly addressed in the coming weeks, I will be escalating my concerns to our local MP. Residents should not have to endure continued neglect of essential infrastructure. Please confirm what immediate and long-term actions will be taken to resolve this issue.

  • This road has been reported numerous times, and still WNC and their contractor turn a deaf ear. This report is measured and accurate. I support the reporters comments and will also write to my MP on both absence of action and poor remedial repairs that put into question the main contractor's competence.

  • Been reporting the state of the road since 2016 after they did such a poor job of road surface redressing , even had someone from the Council knocking on my front door asking if I wanted to speak to the contractor . Good to see some repairs today by why have they left some areas untouched ?
