Drains loose or road has dipped

Reported via desktop in the Loose / Raised/Sunken category anonymously at 15:58, Wed 18 June 2025

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 7729357.

All through the day and night, Heygate lorries come through the village heading towards Bugbrooke and make an awful noise as the lorry hits either the dip in the road of drain. The noise has become much worse and now keeps me and other residence awake through the night, I believe its the lorry suspensions when hitting the drain or dip in the road making a clunk clunk noise, every one of the lorries does this. Something needs to be done to resolve this and it has become worse, I guess as the road condition worsens.

  • Hi, I am a bit concerned that the drain opposite the one marked for repair, has blue paint round it (Mill Lane), I wanted to ensure you will be repairing the correct drain which is as you enter the bus stop on the Bugbrooke road/Ashby court junction.

  • The one marked in blue is separate report to Anglian Water whose drain/main cover has been reported and confirmed to be fixed

The original report of the other one is now getting worse as well, can feel it when driving over it also, but both need repairing urgently, can see a mains burst on the other one, but Anglian Water are aware and organised to fix

  • Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location of the drain in the Bus Stop, and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, this defect meets the requirements for a repair. This road is currently being used as a diversion route until June 2026 which unfrequently means that we are unable to get road space approval to complete the works. We will continue to work to resolve this issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
