Large dying tree on verge dropping branches near Saxon House gate

There is a large tree located just outside our boundary wall at Saxon House, Rugby Road, Lower Harlestone (NN7 4ER). The tree is regularly dropping limbs onto our driveway and appears to be in significant decline.

We have confirmed with Althorp Estate that the tree is not on their land, and it also lies outside our registered title. According to Land Registry mapping, the tree appears to sit in the unregistered verge area alongside the adopted highway.

We are concerned about the safety risk it poses to both our property and passing road users, particularly during high winds. We would be very grateful if someone could inspect the tree and advise on whether any action is planned.

  • Investigation: Ongoing - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that the vegetation is the responsibility of the landowner. In accordance with the WNC Network Management Plan, we will contact the landowner and request they cut back their vegetation within 14 days of receipt of our correspondence. We will reinspect the vegetation to ensure they have complied.

A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that the Tree is the responsibility of the landowner. In accordance with the WNC Network Management Plan, we have contacted the landowner and they will organise the tree to be cut back
