Dangerous Overgrown Tree on Council Land Overhanging My Property

Reported via desktop anonymously at 16:06, Sun 2 November 2025

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8366719.

I am reporting a large overgrown tree located on council-owned land directly behind and to the left-hand side of my property at 17 Spansalde Road, NN39DL. The tree trunk is not in my garden but appears to be on the boundary between my neighbour’s garden and the council field.

The branches extend well over my fence and into my garden, creating a safety hazard — particularly during windy weather. Some branches are large and hang low over my shed and play area, posing a risk to my children when they are outside.

My neighbour has confirmed that the tree’s trunk is rooted in the council’s land. The tree is very tall and overgrown, and the branches that overhang into my garden are too high and heavy for me to safely manage. It would require a qualified tree surgeon or the council’s maintenance team to prune or remove them safely.

I kindly request that the council inspect the tree and arrange for appropriate pruning or safety measures to prevent potential damage or injury.

I have attached photographs showing the tree’s location and how it overhangs my garden.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
