Investigating
Road surface breaking up - Lower Green / High St., Walgrave NN6 9PQ
Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 16:52, Tuesday 2 December 2025
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8493123.
Following excavations by Anglian Water to fix a long standing water ‘leak’ and their subsequent, at best, shoddy attempt and filling and finishing the hole the road surface, and their repair, is now breaking apart. The hole is now a triangular 2ft by 1ft hole and some 5” to 6” in depth and is full of water - the water ‘leak’ is still in full flow. The size of the hole is on the increase.
I spoke to Anglian Water several days ago (Thursday) and they told me they would send someone out urgently and would call me back to let me know the result of their inspection. Needless to say, I’ve subsequently heard nothing.
However, there is a note on the wall of the adjacent house, Chime Cottage, stating it’s not an Anglian Water issue (REALLY!) and has been reported to Highways. However, I can see no related Streetdoctor report.
The first two photos show hole as it is currently, the third as it was last Thursday when reported to Anglian Water.
Vehicles are hitting this at 30+ mph and swerving as a result. It’s only a matter of time before there will be a related RTC.
