Investigating
Large pothole/hazard, unseen in the dark!
Reported via desktop in the Pothole / Failed Reinstatement category by Mr Bailey Ridgway at 18:04, Tue 9 December 2025
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8525143.
This pothole/hazard on the north bound side of the road, on the slope up-to the canal bridge, is completely unseen in the dark! and could have life threatening consequences if hit by a two wheeled vehicle! I hit this hole, in the dark, in my car, travelling at about thirty mph, with such a loud bang, I felt sure there would be some significant damage! fortunately there is no sign of damage so far, it needs further examination to confirm!

There was a car at an emergency light in front of the bridge. I slowed down and drove very slowly, maybe 15 miles, and turned on the long lights to see what happened. At that moment, I heard a big bang as my left front wheel fell into a hole. I drove on but after a few minutes I had to stop. My wheel is broken. It's dark, it was about 17.45 when I was driving there. Probably the car that was standing there was damaged because of the hole, I don't know if the car behind me didn't fall into it either.

We drove around this pothole today and your “semi permanent repair “ has failed and the pothole is as large and dangerous as before.
