Several large deep potholes
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8662345.
There are several large deep potholes between the roundabout at the top of Weedon and Dodford, that have been there for a few months, which are growing in depth and size. Car are required to pull out to the centre of the road or across the centre line to avoid them and at night or when it's raining they are difficult to see until the last minute. Making in some cases driver's taking evasive action late or going down the potholes

Current defects reported October 2024 are failed repairs - such as they were - the adjacent rippled gutter which 2 wheeled vehicles have to avoid as well as the potholes and ripples. Highways consider the ripples to be acceptable. Hopefully one day WNC/Highways will honour the requirement to make the highway safe for all users.

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found) - Thank you for your enquiry. We can confirm that we have been made aware of this issue and a works order has been raised on a routine safety inspection. The expected completion date for these works will be 7/7/26

First reported October 2024 and only now, after some half-hearted failed so-called repairs WNC Highways now reckon 7/7/2026…21 months at best and little comfort for all road users of the A45 between the Flore bypass roundabout west of Weedon and the ‘John O’Gaunt’ roundabout, Daventry dodging wheel-eater potholes as well as 2 wheel users coping with the potholes and rippled gutter.

West Northamptonshire Council is committed to maintaining safe and reliable roads, but it isn’t possible to repair every pothole immediately. The council must prioritise repairs based on available budget, workforce capacity, and the need to address the most safety critical defects first. All decisions are guided by the Highway Inspection Manual, which sets out how road defects are assessed and the timescales for repair. This ensures that resources are used responsibly and that the highest risk issues, such as those posing a danger to road users, are dealt with as quickly as possible while lower risk defects are scheduled appropriately within the limits of available funding.
