Pot hole on the ridgeway

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 17:28, Friday 16 January 2026

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8704562.

This pot hole has been here for a while. When I went back to go take a photo someone else had blown their tyre too because it’s so big they hit it. People are blowing their tyres out everyday because of it.

  • This pothole (and the one 20m before it, nearer Kilsby) STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED! Despite the responses by West Northamptonshire Council!!!!!!!! My son hit it on Monday evening and buckled the front wheel of his car. Requiring him to use his spare to limp home- and subsequently replace the entire damaged wheel. I returned to the site yesterday morning to look for the hubcap that had flown off and another car had done exactly the same and the emergency roadside repair man showed me the buckled wheel. TWO WHEELS IN 12 HOURS! Will it take someone loosing control of their car and perhaps a fatality for this to be fixed?????

  • Completely blew my tyre in the huge pothole. Was dark so I didn’t see it in time, however it’s pretty much in the middle of the road so it would be hard to avoid in daylight too.

  • This entire stretch of road is totally dangerous and unacceptable. At least two of the pot holes are over 6 inches deep and of substantial size, right on the safe driving line and can easily swallow a car tyre. They have been here since November which is far outside your policy time for inspection and repair. I personally have seen five cars having wheels/tyres repaired on this stretch. Due to the size and depth they are clearly causing regular damage to vehicles. Other vehicles are frequently seen to swerve erratically in attempts to avoid them. It is only a matter of time before they directly cause a serious RTC and any of at least six substantial pot holes on this stretch could easily cause a fatal RTC to any cyclist/motorcyclist. As a former roads policing officer I would class at least three pot holes here as a direct road emergency if they were in Warwickshire.
