Dangerous Reappearing Pothole and Road Safety Concern

Reported via mobile in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 23:44, Tuesday 10 February 2026

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 8889556.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to report a dangerous pothole on this road, which has previously been repaired but has now reappeared. The road is unlit, and on a rainy evening the pothole was completely filled with rainwater, making it extremely difficult to see how deep it was in the dark.

Unfortunately, our family car hit the pothole, causing immediate damage to the tyre and a sudden loss of air pressure. The car began wobbling, which was a frightening experience, especially as my children were in the vehicle at the time. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the situation could easily have resulted in a serious accident.

We have since received a repair quote of approximately £500, which is a significant and difficult expense for us. We are currently having to wait until payday to address the damage. More importantly, this pothole presents an ongoing and serious safety risk to other road users.

This road already has multiple potholes and is regularly used by heavy goods vehicles and trucks travelling to and from the Swan Valley warehouse area. Given the volume and weight of traffic, I strongly urge the council to consider a more durable and long-term repair solution suitable for heavy vehicles, rather than temporary fixes.

I kindly request that this road be inspected as a matter of urgency and that appropriate action be taken to make it safer for all road users. Improving the quality of the road surface would help prevent further vehicle damage and reduce the risk of accidents.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I look forward to your response and to hearing what steps will be taken to resolve this issue.
