Damage to pavement and property by utilities company

Reported via desktop in the Slabs - Uneven / Damaged / Cracked category anonymously at 16:20, Monday 9 March 2026

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 9074940.

I am reporting damage to the pavement/footway outside my property in Ashburnham Road, as a result of recent utility works in the area by Grain Communications and their sub-contractors, Prodig. The surface has been damaged, poorly reinstated and is now uneven and deteriorated, creating a potential trip hazard for pedestrians. In addition, the works has caused damage to the mortar around the front of my house which was not present prior to the works and is allowing water ingress into my property. I formally complained to Grain and Prodig at the time of the works, but neither have initiated repairs. As the highway authority responsible for maintaining public footways under Section 41 of the Highways Act 1980, I request that this location is inspected and that any defective reinstatement by the utility company is addressed. Please treat this report as formal notice of the defect and confirm that it has been logged, including the report reference number and the expected timeframe for inspection and repair.
