Investigation: Completed (No Action Necessary) - Thank you for your enquiry. Rainwater channels or drainage features within the public highway that specifically collect water from the roof of a private property are the responsibility of the householder, not the local council. These channels form part of the property’s private drainage system, even where they pass through the footway or verge, and it is therefore the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain them and ensure they remain clear and in good working order.
