Timing of lights on A45 with A43

Reported via mobile in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 11:46, Sunday 28 June 2026

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. ref: 9694835.

The light sequence is not correct. Queuing from dual carriageway from Weston Favell gets blocked by the next set of lights at the entrance of Riverside retail park. Neither lanes coming from A45 nor Riverside have that many cars queuing compared to those coming from Weston Favell.

  • Queuing traffic from A43 onto the Riverside roundabout to get onto the A45 is horrendous as traffic light are not in the correct sequence. Lights don't remain on green very long so not much traffic gets through the lights causing tail backs on the A43 at all times of the day.

  • Traffic is still very heavy all day. The light sequence is not as it was previously, not enough vehicles are allowed through the lights from the a43 onto the roundabout.

  • It looks like this issue was first reported on 28th June. You keep replying it could take up to 5 days to investigate so why hasn’t it been resolved by now? I am spending an extra 10 minutes queuing every day I drive this route. It happens on weekdays and at the weekend I’ve observed. West Northamptonshire Council PLEASE stop giving the same response and just fix it properly!

  • Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - Thank you for your enquiry. This site is monitored daily via CCTV to assess traffic conditions and signal performance. Our observations indicate that traffic levels at this location are currently higher than usual due to drivers diverting away from other nearby roadworks. The traffic signal equipment at this site is due for renewal as part of a planned upgrade programme. In the meantime, we are reviewing the current signal timings and are investigating whether adjustments can be made to improve traffic flow on Saturday mornings ahead of the renewal works. We will continue to monitor the site to ensure the signals operate as effectively as possible until the upgrade takes place.
